Hello and welcome to DH Radio.

Almost two years have passed since the last deadline for the 15-km Namma Metro Baiyappanahalli - Whitfield extension expired in December 2020.

Trial runs have now begun on the 3.5km stretch from Whitefield to Pattandur Agrahara. While Whitefield residents are happy that at one one part will be ready soon, the entire stretch is unlikely to be opened before the second half of next year.

In this episode, DH Radio's Rasheed Kappan speaks to long-time Whitefield resident and activist, Zibi Jamal, who traces the long wait for the line, the struggles faced during the construction period and the last-mile challenges ahead.

Mobility activist Sanjeev Dyamannavar also offers his perspectives on this critiline line to one of Bengaluru's most important IT hubs.
