Last Updated 12 January 2019, 18:47 IST

On Saturday, a large number of tourists visited the Kodagu Pravasi Utsav which is organised by the district administration to attract tourists to the district.

There was a good response for the dog show held as part of the Pravasi Utsav.

Though the turn out for the flower show and cultural programmes on Friday was poor, a large number of visitors turned up at the venue on Saturday.

The open street festival will be organised at Raja Seat Road in Madikeri on Sunday. Various stalls will come up on either side of the road where tourists and locals can take up shopping. ‘Dollu Kunitha’ and ‘Keelu Kudure’ will be among other attraction at the open street festival, said organisers.

To facilitate the open street festival, the district administration has restricted the movement of vehicles from M M Circle near Raja Seat to Kundoorumotte Temple Junction, from 8 am to 10 pm on Sunday.

“All those who arrive in vehicles should walk towards Gandhi Maidan. This is a first of its kind programme in Kodagu. We are hopeful of its success,” said resort and homestay owners.

A large number of school and college students visited Gandhi Maidan. The schoolchildren enjoyed the dog show. Many were seen clicking selfies near the stall put up by the Department of Information and Public Relation.

The food stalls helped the visitors to savour traditional delicacies of Kodagu. A large number of visitors also visited the flower show.
