Protest by Dalit Sangarsha Samithi enters fourth day

The protest by Dalit Sangarsha Samithi demanding the distribution of sites for the poor in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Virajpet entered the fourth day on Saturday.

Assistant Commissioner Javare Gowda visited the spot and discussed the issue with the protesters.

As the officer failed to provide a solution, the protest will be continued, said the Samithi leaders.

Javare Gowda said that the process for issuing sites for the siteless has commenced at the gram panchayat level. The beneficiaries should visit the PDO and furnish documents, he added.

Samithi district convener H R Parashuram said that the protest will be continued till the district in-charge minister visits the spot.

As many as 40 women and children who were part of the protest have fallen sick and are being treated at a government hospital.
