Rahul can't be PM: Shettar

Last Updated 16 December 2018, 17:20 IST

Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar opined that leaders of the Third Front would not accept Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as their leader, and there is no unity among those parties.

He told media persons here on Monday that Congress deciding to make Rahul as its face for Lok Sabha elections and authorising him to forge alliances would not make any impact.

Parties that are considered to be the alliance of the Congress are suffering from infighting. Rahul is not a match for the leadership of Narendra Modi who would again become the prime minister and nobody can defeat him in 2019 elections, Shettar noted.

"If JD(S) claims that it has not done injustice to North Karnataka region, let it send the booklet it claims to have published on its achievements. This government should give at least Rs 5 crore each to 50 new taluks, including 38 in North Karnataka region. Let the government immediately issue a white paper on funds provided and spent for North Karnataka development in the terms of different governments," Shettar added.
