Last Updated 24 July 2018, 18:15 IST

After a brief lull, monsoon resumed in Kodagu district on Monday late night.

Intermittent rain continued on Tuesday morning.

The water level at the Triveni Sangama at Bhagamandala has increased, following rain in the Brahmagiri range.

In Talacauvery, the rain has been coupled with gusty winds. Cauvery and Lakshmanatheertha rivers are in spate.

There was thick mist in Talacuavery and Bhagamandala on Tuesday morning. Tourists enjoyed the combination of rain and mist.

Farmers who have started the transplantation of paddy are worried that the excess water will ruin the seedlings on thousands of acres of fields in Napoklu, Ayyangeri, Kottamudi, Benguru, Cheyyandane, Hudugeri and Virajpet.

Farmers in Emmemadu said that the paddy seedlings transplanted recently have been washed away.

Adding to the problem, there is a shortage of seedlings for another round of transplantation.

Coffee growers too are anxious over the loss of crops after insecticides sprayed on the plants have been washed away.

In the last 24 hours, ending Tuesday 8.30 am, Kodagu district received 39.63 mm rain. The amount of rainfall in the same time frame last year was 7.42 mm.

The district has received 2,464.32 rain from January till date. There was 1,173.06 mm rainfall for the period last year.
