Reliance Jio, which already sells cheap feature handset JioPhone, last year announced a partnership with Google to launch affordable touchscreen-based Android mobile. Now, reports are coming that the Akash Ambani-led company is working on an Android-powered laptop JioBook.

JioBook is said to be powered by Qualcomm's 2019 chipset-- 11nm class Snapdragon 665 octa-core CPU backed by forked Android OS version understood to be JioOS, XDA Developers Forum reported citing the JioBook's firmware reviewed by its members.

The JioBook is also expected to come with Snapdragon X12-powered 4G-LTE modem. Like the other Jio products, the upcoming laptop is said to come with affordable. It is expected to come with two configuration options-- 2GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM +64GB storage.

Interesting thing is that the company is collaborating with China-based OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Bluebank Communication Technology (BCT) to develop custom software and also assemble the JioBook.

BCT is a long-time supply partner of Reliance Jio, as it is also known to develop KaiOS, which runs on JioPhone.

As of now JioBook is under works and is expected to undergo a Product Validation Test (PVT) in April. If things go as planned, it may launch in the second half of 2021.
