Deshpande, Joshi slam tons in YSR

Lochan, Acharya score centuries as Cottons move into semifinals of under-16 cricket.

Pavan Deshpande and Anirudha Joshi hammered identical unbeaten hundreds as Vultures Cricket Club inflicted a crushing 244-run loss on Palar Sports Club, Kolar in the YS Ramaswamy Memorial Trophy league tournament here.

Deshpande and Joshi remained undefeated on 152 each to help Vultures post a massive 376 for two in 50 overs. Deshpande followed up his big effort with the ball with a four-wicket haul (4/25) to pack off Palar SC for a modest 132.

Lochan stars for Cottons

Lochan Appanna slammed 145 while Jeshwant Acharya struck 143 to help Bishop Cotton Boys’ School move into the semifinals of the KSCA Cup under-16 Division I inter-school cricket tournament.

Riding on tons by Lochan and Acharya, Cottons piled on 491 for eight in 90 overs before bowling out Carmel High School, Basaveshwarnagar for a paltry 168 in 85.4 overs. Cottons moved advanced by virtue of their first innings lead.

Elsewhere, St Joseph’s Indian High School beat National High School to enter the last-four stage.

Frank Anthony Public School: 326 all out in 78.2 overs (Mitesh Madhan 84, P Rishiketh 68, Aditya Garg 52 n.o.; Ritesh Padeny 2-79, Mayank Rana 6-88) bt KV Airforce Yelahanka: 24/5 in 19overs (Anchit Aiyappa 2-2). KV Airforce Yelahanka did not turn up on second day.

St Joseph’s Indian High School: 391 all out in 77.4 overs (Ravi Kumar N 76, Prajwal Kumar 111, Sai Rahul 68, Shalok 48; S Nagesh 2-52, Lohith Gowda 4-97, Akshay R 4-93) and 146 for no loss in 22 overs (Akash Deshpande 63 retd, Mohith BA 78 n.o.) drew National High School: 125 all out in 43 overs (Shashidhar 30; Vishnu Jain 2-14, Sankalp SS 2-20, Shalok 4-10).

Ebenezer Residential School: 442 for 6 decl 77overs (Deepak Yadhav 114 n.o., Munim Mossa 80, Sudhanshu Sonkar 52, Rohan Nayakar 91, Karthikeya Wadwa 41; Aditya B Venkatesh 2-113) bt Sri Kumaran Public School, CBSE, B-62: 110 all out in 40 overs (Aditya B Venkatesh 85; Chinmaya M Narasimah 2-15, Karthikeya Wadwa 3-25) and 102 all out in 33 overs (Karthijeya Wadwa 4-33, Chinmaya 3-22).
