Rain halts Pakistan chase in crucial Group B fixture

Chasing a modest 220 to win, Pakistan were 119 for three in 27 overs when rain stopped play in the Group B Champions Trophy match, here today.

Shoaib Malik (16) and Babar Azam (31) were at the crease for Pakistan, who need a win to stay alive in the competition, when skies opened up.

Earlier, putting up an inspiring show, Pakistan restricted South Africa to 219 for eight after being asked to bowl.

As per Duckworth and Lewis calculations, at this stage 100 is par score for the chasing team and Pakistan are 19 runs ahead.

South Africa : 219 for 8 in 50 overs (David Miller 75 not out, Q de Kock 33, Chris Morris 28; Hasan Ali 3/24, Imad Wasi 2/20).

Pakistan: 119 for 3 in 27 overs. (Babar Azam 31 batting, Fakhar Zaman 31; Morne Morkel 3/18).
