Lokko Sports, owners of City’s most recent professional football outfit South United FC, will be conducting a pay-and-play coaching clinic early next year in association with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Although still in the very early stages, Pablo Gomez Revenga (Director, Real Madrid Technical Management Team Camps and Technical Permanent School) felt the project will help the kids gain some insight into Spanish football.

“This is the first step for us,” Revenga said about his two-day visit to Bangalore where he will be conducting a recce of the training facilities before submitting a report to Real Madrid. “The idea is to bring two or three coaches from the Real Madrid academy. We want to show our vision in football -- Spanish football. Everyone wants to know more about our football.

“We want to teach football our way and improve the skill level of the players. We’ll hold technical, tactical, theoretical and practical sessions -- not just for the players but the coaches also. We hope to kick-start the programme early next year.”

Meanwhile, Lokknath R Char, CEO of Lokko Sports, said the modalities of the clinic are still in the discussion stage. “The focus of the clinic is improving grassroot football. So, it will be open for kids aged between 12-15. Since the project is an expensive one, participating kids will be charged which is yet to be worked out.
“We’ve yet to decide on the timeline of the clinic.”
