1,000 more homes for flood victims

The Government will hand over 750 houses built by CISCO at N Bankapura in Raichur and 250 houses built by the Dharmasthala Manjunath Trust at Kongawada in Dharawad district.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said here on Friday that the Government was hopeful of completing construction of 5,000 houses by the end of this month. Development of a layout has been completed and the construction work is in full swing at 297 villages, he said.

The Chief Minister, who also reviewed programmes of the Minor Irrigation Department, said 984 tanks in the State have been encroached.

Of the total 4,086 ha of the encroached land, 1,716.52 ha has been recovered. He said the Government has deployed special surveyors to survey the encroached land.
