Udupi-Chikkamagaluru BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje has become the victim of cyber fraud with scamsters hacking into her bank account and stealing Rs 15.50 lakh.

Karandlaje approached Parliament Street Police Station on Monday after she came to know about the withdrawal of money.

According to the complaint, money was withdrawn over the past two months from her account in State Bank of India’s Parliament House Branch account.

Sources close to the MP said that she had not received any SMS alert about the transfer of money from her account.

The incident came to light when she went to the bank for some transactions on Monday and when she obtained her bank account statement, she found that a huge amount was withdrawn without her knowledge.

The Delhi Police is probing the incident. “The police is also probing whether any of the bank staff compromised the bank account details of the MP since she claimed that she did not receive the SMS alert,”a senior police official said.
