Three people, including a father-son duo who had gone to clean a well, suffocated to death at Kavalaga (K) village in Kalaburagi taluk on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Channanna Chowdappa Chowdappagola, 59, his son Mallinath alias Mallu, 35, and Mahaboobsab Nabisab Koodi, 38.
It is said there is severe water shortage in the village and a decision had been taken to clean an ancient well in the village so that the water there can be utilised by the people.
Accordingly, Channanna entered the well for cleaning it. However, he did not return after a long time. A worried Mallu along with Mahaboobsab entered the well and they were also suffocated to death, according to initial reports. A case has been registered by the Farahatabad police.
