Three students of Uppinanangady Junior College accidentally drowned on Monday evening and the body was retrieved on Tuesday morning. According to police, the deceased are Mohammed Suhaid, Saheer and Firzan.
It was said that all the 18 boys of science section of 2nd PUC in the college had celebrated Firzan's birthday after class hours in the evening by cutting a cake. As Firzan's dress had stains of cake, he along with his two friends left for the river that flows nearby to wash the clothes and other classmates left home.
As the three students failed to reach home even after 10 pm on Monday, parents and relatives started searching and came to know of the birthday celebrations and three students' riverside visit.
Though search operation was carried out on Monday night did not yield any result. The body was retrieved from the river on Tuesday morning.
