Cong hits back at Hegde for crows, monkeys jibe

Responding to Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde's comments comparing opposition leaders to crows and monkeys, senior Congress leader Verappa Moily said that "the tiger (Modi) had become wild and must be sent back to the forest."

Hegde had sparked controversy by comparing the Opposition leaders to "crows, monkeys and foxes". "The Opposition has come together against the tiger (Modi)," Hegde said while addressing party workers in Karwar.

"On the one side crows, monkeys, foxes and others have come together, On the other side, we have a tiger. In 2019, choose to elect the tiger,'' he said.

Attacking the Congress, Hegde told partymen if the BJP had ruled for 70 years, they would have been sitting on silver chairs instead of plastic. "We are sitting on plastic chairs. This is due to Congress rule, had we ruled for 70 years, you would have been sitting on silver chairs," Hegde said.

Hegde had also stirred a controversy by comparing Dalits to dogs in January. He had kicked up another controversy by saying the Constitution will be changed in the days to come. Two months ago, BJP president Amit Shah had likened the Opposition to "snakes, dogs and cats."
