The winter session of the legislature will be held in Belgaum during the third week of November or the first week of December, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Jayachandra brushed aside charges made by the Opposition BJP and JD(S) that the government was in two-minds on holding the session in Belgaum fearing a backlash from sugarcane growers (who have not been paid their dues) of the district.
He said Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa had written to the government that the winter session be held for 17 days. The Cabinet will take a final decision on the issue, he said.
