Centre okays power grid in Tumkur

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, G S Basavaraju, MP, said electricity will be supplied to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh through this grid.

The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) will construct the grid at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore. Initially, a 400/200 KV sub-station will be built at a cost of Rs 495 crore.

Land transfer

Basavaraju said the KIADB has agreed to provide 132 acre needed for the project, of which 60 acre had already been transferred and the remaining 72 acre will be transferred soon.

A tender has been called for the construction of a wall around  the project site at a cost of Rs two crore.

Through the project, the 220 receiving stations in the district in Antharasanahalli, Madhugiri, Nittur, Anchepalya and Kibbanahalli Cross in Kunigal taluk, and the stations proposed to be built at Sira and Pavagad will receive uninterrupted supply of power.
