The police have submitted a charge sheet against former zilla panchayat president K Marigowda and two of his aides for intimidating the previous Deputy Commissioner, C Shikha, on July 3, 2016.

Marigowda is a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The police team, led by Devaraja Sub-Division Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajashekar, submitted a 45-page charge sheet against Marigowda, Basavaraju and Manjunath on Wednesday.

Marigowda and his supporters had prevented Shikha from entering the government guesthouse when she was on protocol duty to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Marigowda and others had stopped Shikha’s official vehicle on the guesthouse premises and questioned her about certain administrative matters. When the officer refused to offer an explanation, the accused reportedly issued threats and used abusive language against her.

Following the incident, Shikha lodged a complaint with Nazarbad police.
Marigowda, who had been absconding since the incident, was forced to surrender before the Nazarbad police on August 3 after the Karnataka High Court rejected his bail plea.
