The Congress’ foundation day celebration Friday turned into an embarrassment as senior leader H Hanumanthappa slammed the party over its unpreparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“Only 3-4 months are left for the polls, but we’re still talking about those in power not having authority and those in authority not having the right portfolios. We neither have workers nor volunteers in the party. We’re still in the dangerous situation of searching for seats (of power),” Hanumanthappa, a former Lok Sabha member, said, adding that the party leadership was doing little to counter the BJP.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao responded by urging Hanumanthappa not to worry too much as the party was on strong ground.
