Cong, JD(S) blaming us unnecessarily: BJP’s CT Ravi

Last Updated 08 February 2019, 12:32 IST

The Congress-JD(S) coalition is hiding its inability to keep its house in order by “unnecessarily” blaming the BJP for the prevailing political turbulence, BJP general secretary C T Ravi said on Wednesday.

“It is the Congress that is rocking the cradle and pinching the baby, but the blame is being put on the BJP in order to mislead the people of Karnataka,” Ravi said in a statement.

“The BJP is not responsible for whatever is happening. While claiming that none of its legislators will resign, Congress leaders are accusing the BJP of indulging in horsetrading. This is a contradiction. The unnatural alliance (of the Congress and JDS) is the sole cause for whatever is taking place,” the former minister said.

Ravi accused the Congress-JD(S) of having cheated disgruntled legislators by making various promises. “Blaming the BJP for every single problem in the Congress-JD(S) coalition seems to be the sole agenda,” he said.

“The Congress and JD(S) came together on the pretext of providing good administration. Their legislators are now convinced that this government cannot achieve anything. The current developments are because of the opportunism of the Congress and JD(S),” he said.

Party spokesperson Vaman Acharya said the BJP had kept its MLAs together in Gurugram as the Congress or the JD(S) leaders were trying to woo them.

“The chief minister himself has spoken about poaching BJP MLAs. Minister D K Shivakumar too has tried to get in touch with the BJP MLAs. The BJP, however, made no attempts to destabilise the government,” he said.

Acharya said the BJP had nothing to do with the two Independent MLAs choosing to withdraw support to the government.

Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda too justified his party’s reason to keep its MLAs at one place.

“Kumaraswamy’s failure to keep the promises made to the Congress legislators resulted in this political scenario. Now, to safeguard his chair, the chief minister himself is trying to indulge in horsetrading of BJP MLAs. The MLAs have been kept away from his dirty tricks,” he said in a tweet.
