BJP National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao has said that the BJP has started its membership drive and the party will emerge as the largest political party in the world shortly.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, he said that compared to 2009 elections, the number of people who cast their vote to the BJP has increased by 19 crore.

The BJP will emerge as the largest party in the world. It will beat Communist party of China with regard to the members. The Party High Command has decided to strengthen the party in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha and other states in the country.

Brushing aside talks on groupism in the state BJP unit, he said that all the leaders are united. Every leader in the BJP state unit has a single goal to make Congress free Karnataka. Karnataka was leading in membership drive in the past. Even now in the campaign, highest number of membership will be registered in Karnataka, Rao added. In fact, youth have shown keen interest in joining the party. The membership drive will be held till March 31.

“One can enroll as party member by giving a missed call. Party workers will approach members for verification with party terms and conditions,” he added.

Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a high moral standards not only for himself but for rest of his colleagues and others in the party, he said “Modi not only lives up to the standards but also expects the others to follow it.”

Opposing the mal administration of the Congress led State government, the BJP will organise a protest rally during Belagavi session on December 9.

“The Congress is yet to learn to play a new game as a opposition party at the centre. In democracy, the BJP wants opposition party to play active role,” he said.

Answering to a query on how the BJP will counter Congress in the ongoing session, Rao said “Opposition is a new game for them which they are yet to learn. But they will be there for next few years to play the role. The citizens of the country will also watch how effective they are as a opposition party. The BJP is not scared of opposition. Modi's government is fully prepared.”

On the image of the BJP in Karnataka, Rao said “things have changed. Youth are joining the party. The BJP will not remain passive if  the State government fails to fulfill the aspirations of the people. We are here to protect the interest of the people of Karnataka.”
