“The officers should take measures to ensure that the works are done in time,” the minister said.

Alternative arrangements

Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan asked the officers to remove the petty shops from the park vicinity so as to make it attractive.

He also directed the officials to make alternative arrangements to help the petty shop owners to continue with their business, elsewhere, so that their lives were not disturbed.

The Deputy Commissioner, Anwar Pasha said that the ambitious Chennaiah Park construction will be completed in two phases.

In the first phase, a fence will be constructed at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. And in the second phase, the actual work for the park will begin. A fountain and a walking path will also be built along with planting of the saplings, he added.
