<p> <br />The Land Army, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of building the park, has expressed its confidence that it will be ready within one month’s time.<br /><br />Speaking on the occasion, District incharge and Wakf and Minorities Welfare Minister Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan called upon the officers to extend their co-operation for the speedy completion of the development works in the town. <br /><br />“The officers should take measures to ensure that the works are done in time,” the minister said.<br /><br />Alternative arrangements<br /><br />Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan asked the officers to remove the petty shops from the park vicinity so as to make it attractive. <br /><br />He also directed the officials to make alternative arrangements to help the petty shop owners to continue with their business, elsewhere, so that their lives were not disturbed.<br /><br />The Deputy Commissioner, Anwar Pasha said that the ambitious Chennaiah Park construction will be completed in two phases. <br /><br />In the first phase, a fence will be constructed at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. And in the second phase, the actual work for the park will begin. A fountain and a walking path will also be built along with planting of the saplings, he added.<br /><br />Officer of the Land Army D Chandra Mohan, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat N Krishnappa, Sub Divisional Officer G V Seenappa, nominated member Chikkaramaiah and other important persons were present on the occasion.<br /><br />Absence<br /><br />The MLA, K P Bachegowda, Town Municipal Council President and members were conspicuous by their absence at the foundation laying function.<br /><br />It is alleged that the district incharge minister and the deputy commissioner had organised the function in a hurry. Union Minister M Veerappa Moily was expected to lay the foundation stone for the Chennaiah Park.</p>
