Demanding a public apology from Deve Gowda for abusing the Chief minister with the choicest of words, the protesters raised slogans against the former prime minister.
“Gowda has stooped too low and has not maintained the dignity of the position he once held. This is unbecoming of a former prime minister and shows the kind of person Gowda is. Insulting the chief minister of a state with such words is unacceptable and he should publicly apologise,” BJP leaders S N Sriram and Jagadishwarachari said.
They warned that they would intensify the protests if Gowda does not apologise for his behaviour.
“While protesting against NICE is right, it is not acceptable to criticise the administrative machinery in the name of protests. Gowda should exercise some self-restraint,” they added.
BJP leaders D R Nagaraj, Balaji, Narayanaswamy, Sanjay Jadhav, Sukanya, Rajeshwari, Rathnamma, Y S Rajendra, Hoovalli Chalapathi, Om Shakti Chalapathi and Appi were present during the protest.
Traffic disrupted
Due to the protest, vehicular movement near the bus stand was disrupted for more than half hour. State transport buses, autorickshaws and hundreds of commuters were stranded on the road.
