Even as the team of Chinese experts have recommended against the introduction of bullet train between Mysuru and Chennai through Bengaluru, former Mysuru and Kodagu MP A H Vishwanath has demanded the State Government take up measures to introduce the high speed train between Mysuru and Bengaluru.

Participating in a meeting ahead of State budget-2015 organised at the Institute of Engineers India (IEI), Mysuru chapter, here on Monday, Vishwanath referring to the recent letter of chief advisor to the single member committee of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) E Sridharan, to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, said that the DMRC was ready to take up the task.

Sridharan had observed that the project was justified and feasible. “The existing length of the track between the two cities is 130 km, which can be reduced to 110 km by reducing the curves at places. It is feasible to operate trains that can run up to 200 km per hour bringing down the time of journey to 40 minutes. This may not require much land for expansion. Also, the DMRC itself is ready to take up the task,” said Vishwanath.

Vishwanath urged Siddaramaiah to seriously consider the advise of Sridharan and also make a mention of the same in the forthcoming budget.

“If the government joins hands with the railway department and implement the same, it will largely benefit the people irrespective of commuter and business class,” he added.
