Newly launched Mysuru-Hubballi train gets good patronage

 The daily express train from Mysuru to Hubballi (via Bengaluru) has seen good occupancy of passengers between Mysuru and Bengaluru and the authorities are hopeful of increasing the occupancy to 80% in a week.

The new train, launched on May 23, leaves Mysuru Railway Station at 6.15 am, 30 minutes before Chamundi Express. The train has been getting about 280 passengers from Mysuru to Bengaluru and another 200 from other stations everyday.

A railway official said that the other stations towards Bengaluru such as Srirangapatna, Pandavapura, Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna, Ramnagar, Bidadi and Kengeri, have also recorded brisk sale of tickets. He said the train will receive good patronage from passengers in the days to come as it has been alloted an ideal time table and offers inexpensive fares in comparison to road transport. The train leaves Mysuru at 6.15 am and reaches Bengaluru at 9.10 am everyday.

On the return journey, the train leaves Hubballi at 8 am and reaches Bengaluru City Station at 5.40 pm. It leaves Bengaluru at 5.45 pm and reaches Mysuru at 8.40 pm. Both the trains halt at Mysuru Railway station for 15 minutes before reaching Ashokapuram Railway Station.

Train services to Bengaluru

As many as 27 pairs of trains, inducing weekly, bi-weekly, super-fast, express and ordinary passengers, operate from Mysuru to Bengaluru. There are four weekly, three bi-weekly while Mysuru-Chennai Shatabdi Express operates six days a week from Mysuru. As many as 19 pairs of trains operate daily.

According to authorities, everyday an approximate 21,000 people travel to Bengaluru from Mysuru and about 30,000 people travel from Mysuru to other places. Season ticket holders towards Bengaluru account for an additional 4,000, said an official.
