Property parade held in Chamarajanagar

Speaking af the property return parade that was held in the city police parade grounds in Chamarajanagar on Sunday, Superintendent of Police K H Chandrashekar said in all Rs 25,73,189 worth valuables have been stolen.

Twenty nine persons have been arrested in 25 cases and articles worth Rs 11,43,939 has been recovered, which includes even a tiger pellet, he explained.

Valuables worth Rs 7,71,800 has been returned to their respective owners and Rs 3,72,139 worth valuables are in the custody of police department. This will be returned after getting permission from the court. Explaining about the cases, he said in all 61 cases of serious crime has been reported which includes seven murder, three dowry death, one dacoity, two extortion, one daylight robbery, three night robbery, four theft, four dowry harassment, six atrocities against SC/ST communities, three assault, 25 road mishaps and one case under wildlife conservation act, he said.

The number of cases registered under Motor Vehicles Act stand at 3,733 and a fine of Rs 7,64,500 has been collected. Eighteen cases under Excise Act has been booked,  31 cases under Anti-smoking act, 30 under gambling have been registered. Twenty five fatal mishaps have been reported in which 30 were killed and 31 were seriously injured. 107 non-fatal mishap occurred leaving 177 injured, he said.
