Rains inundate houses, destroy crops in Chikmagalur

As many as 11 houses at A Rangapura in Tarikere and nearby areas were inundated. Huge quantity of areca spread for drying too has been damaged. The people from these houses were provided shelter at Government primary school in the village.

Since the lakes and streams in Amruthapura, Vittalpura and Kuntinamady villages flooded, several hectares of paddy, ragi and jowar fields submerged in water. The damages have not been estimated yet.

Meanwhile, 100 acre of crops have been estimated to be lost due to the rains that lashed over the taluk during last two days. Three houses collapsed at Hogarehalli. Huge area of cultivated land got inundated after Doddahalli flooded at Hadagalu village near Antharghatta. Paddy, ragi, onion and jowar crops in villages like H Thimmapura, Kallihosalli, Hanumanahalli, Mudigere and Chikkaballekere were lost in the floods.
