Fishermen missing: Protest in Udupi block NH 66

The fishermen who staged a massive protest demanding justice for the missing seven fishermen, blocked national highway 66 at Udupi for three hours from 10 am to 1 pm. The protest disrupted the traffic on the highway.

Seven fishermen went for deep sea fishing on December 13 from Malpe and remained not reachable since December 15 midnight.

Hundreds of fishermen from DK, Udupi took out a procession Malpe shore to Karavali Bypass as a part of the protest. The fishermen expressed their anguish at the failure of the government in tracing the fishermen along with the fishing boat. Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, MP Shobha Karandlaje joined the protest.

Following the protest, the police had diverted the movement of vehicles. All the vehicles from Nitturu Ambagilu Junction to Kinni Mulki were diverted and passed through Amabgilu, Perampalli, Manipal, Beedinagudde.
