Five people were killed and eight others were injured in a truck and cruiser collision on the outskirts of Chitradurga at about 7.30 am on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Siddartha, Rakesh, Shivalingu, Vinod and, the cruiser driver Suresh.
They are all residents of Munyalu of Gokak taluk, Belgaum district.
Police said that the five dead were returning home after a vacation in Mysuru. All of them are aged between 18-24 years old.
The eight injured have been admitted to Chitradurga district hospital. The rural police have registered the case and investigations are on.
