The mortal remains of Basavaraja Yaragatti, the soldier who was killed in the helicopter crash in Uttarakhand, were laid to rest with government honours at Jagapura village in the taluk on Wednesday.
The coffin, which arrived from Mumbai, was taken in a procession in Naragund and public were allowed to pay their last respects.
Gun salute
The District Armed Force paid gun salute to the departed soul after which last rites were performed.
District in charge Minister H K Patil handed over a cheque for Rs 10 lakh to the family of the soldier.
