Golden throne ready for Mysuru Dasara

 The ‘golden throne’, one of the major attractions of the Dasara festival, was assembled heralding the 406th edition of Mysuru Dasara, on Sunday.

As per the tradition, a team of 15 members from Gejjagalli assembled the throne, under the supervision of the authorities of Mysuru Palace and the district administration.

The scion of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, will ascend the ‘golden throne’ for the private durbar (khasagi durbar) to be held from October 1 at the Mysuru Palace. According to sources, the process of assembling the throne began at 6 am.

A group of priests offered puja at the Palace strong room before taking out the parts of the throne to assemble it. After several rituals the process of assembling the throne began at Durbar Hall of the Palace at 8.20 am and was completed by 11.50 am. Later, priests offered puja to the throne.

The throne was assembled in the presence of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Deputy Commissioners of Police H T Shekhar and N Rudramuni, Palace Board Deputy Director T S Subramanya and others.

The golden throne is dismantled after Dasara celebrations every year and kept in a strong room in Mysuru Palace. The throne is kept for public view only during Dasara celebration.
