Gowda to attend NRI conclave in London

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will be the chief guest at the Global Achievers Conclave scheduled to be held at the House of Commons of the British Parliament in London on Thursday.

The conclave is being organised by the NRI Welfare Society of India, and is part of a larger Global Indian Summit, an event that caters to Indian expats.

On the morning of October 26, Deve Gowda will pay tribute to the statue of 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara, located opposite the British Parliament on the Albert Embankment in the Lambeth borough of London.

This will be organised by The Basaveshwara Foundation, a non-profit that got the statue erected. Indian expats, including from Karnataka, will participate in the event.

Gowda is to return on October 28 to take part in the
final leg of election campaigning for the November 3 bypoll to Mandya, Shimoga (Lok Sabha) and Ramanagara (Assembly) seats, where the JD(S) is fielding candidates supported by its alliance partner Congress.
