Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has said that he would not have become a chief minister had he not joined Congress when Deve Gowda expelled him from JD(S).

“Deve Gowda had told me that I would have to face consequences if I held an Ahinda convention. But, I went ahead with the event in Hubballi and Deve Gowda expelled me from the party,” Siddaramaiah recalled. He was speaking at a meeting of Kuruba community leaders at Jamkhandi in Bagalkot district on Sunday.

He said that “Rahu, Ketu and Shani” joined hands to ensure his defeat in Chamundeshwari constituency in the recently held Assembly election. “But voters of Badami constituency came to my rescue. People of Mysuru have defeated and chased me out of the district. Therefore, now I belong to Bagalkot district.”
