AICC President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in personal attacks as the BJP did not have any issues for the Assembly elections in Karnataka.

"Modi is making personal attacks against me as he is afraid of me. Modi's criticism of me won't affect me. Since he is the prime minister of India, I won't attack him personally. But, I continue question the prime minister on the promises he made before coming to power," he said while campaigning for the Congress party candidates.

"The Congress party has provided education and improved infrastructure in Karnataka. Why doesn't Modi speak about these developments? The Gabbar Singh Tax has triggered many problems for small time businessmen. Why doesn't he talk about this?" Rahul Ganthi sought to know.

"The Congress party in Karnataka has fulfilled about 90% of assurances made in the manifesto. Despite my appeal, Modi did not waive off farm loan, but the Siddaramaiah government waived off the farm loan," he said.

He termed the May 12 Assembly elections as a battle of two ideologies.

"It is a battle between the ideology of the Congress represented by empowerment and RSS' ideology," he remarked.

"It is the election for the future and not merely a fight between Modi and Rahul Gandhi," he said.

"Modi speaks against corruption, but the BJP has declared a candidate who was jailed on the charge of corruption as its chief ministerial candidate. The BJP has embraced Reddy brothers," he charged.

"In the land of Basavanna, Modi and his party should follow Basavanna's principle of "walk the talk," he said.
