The jatha, organised by the Karnataka Bhoo Hakkudarara Vedike, was inaugurated at the Gandhi Park in the City. Ganapathiappa said that their agitation was based on the Gandhian model.

“When Yeddyurappa was the leader of the Opposition, he had taken out a padayatra from Shikaripur to Bangalore, demanding regularisation of Bagair Hukum land. Now, when he is the chief minister, he has no concern for farmers,” the freedom fighter said.

He warned that the agitation would continue in Shikaripur, the chief minister’s constituency, till the title deeds are given. G N Rajashekhara Naidu, general secretary of the Karnataka Bhoo Hakkudarara Vedike, said that though the High Court had, in December 2010, directed the government to regularise Bagair Hukum land, the government had not complied with the order.
