14th Koti Chennaya sports tournament from tomorrow

The 14th Koti Chennaya sports tournament will be held at General Thimmaiah Stadium on May 28 and 29. Distribution of scholarships will be held on the occasion, said Billava Samaja Seva Sangha President B M Rajashekhar.

Addressing mediapersons in Madikeri on Thursday, he said that national athlete B C Tilak will inaugurate the tourney at 10.30 am on May 28. “Billava Samaja district unit president B Y Ananda Raghu, legal advisor Ramesh and CMC president Shreemathi Bangera will take part. Cricket, volleyball and throw ball matches will be organised for men, while tug of war and shot put will be for women. Fast-walking event will be organised for people above 50 years of age,” he said.

“Picking the grains event will be organised for young children, frog race for children of classes one and two, 50 metre race for children from classes three to five, 100 metre race for children from classes five to seven, 200 metre race for high school children, while 400 metre race will be held for college students,” he listed out.

The valedictory programme will be held at 4 pm on May 29. Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake will inaugurate it. Legislators K G Bopaiah, M P Appacchu Ranjan, Sunil Subramani and Udupi MLA Kota Srinivas Poojary will attend.
