<p>The authorities have taken up an inquiry into 435 cases sanctioned by Akrama-Sakrama Samithi following the allegations of flouting the rules following directions from Lokayukta. The inquiry is conducted not to harm anyone, Assistant commissioner Dr Nanjunde Gowda said.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He was speaking at the tri-monthly KDP review meeting chaired by District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao in the city on Tuesday.<br /><br />Reacting to MLA K G Bopaiah’s question, Gowda said there were complaints on violation of rules and illegality in 435 cases sanctioned by Akrama-Sakrama Samithi in 2001 which reached the Lokayukta. “The Lokayukta, in turn, has asked us to conduct an inquiry,” he added.<br /><br />The MLA said that there is no mention of Lokayukta directions in the notice issued to beneficiaries. “It is not right on the part of the authorities to suspend the land sanctioned by the Akrama-Sakrama Sam-ithi,” he added.<br /><br />The minister directed the officials to make an alternative arrangement for the victims who were cleared from the Paisari land at Vidyanagara Layout. Bopaiah and MLC Sunil Subramani said the clearing of the encroached land before the clearing the applications under 94 C and 94 CC is condemnable. <br /><br />Tahsildar Kunhamma said all those who were residing at Vidyanagara Layout owned land elsewhere in the district and hence, their applications under 94 C was rejected.<br /><br />Road development<br /><br />The minister said that Rs 74 crore has already been released for road works. The remaining Rs 26 crore will be released shortly. He directed Deputy Commissioner Meer Anees Ahmmed to conduct a probe into the illegality reported in the implementation of Kundamestri project.<br /><br />Bopaiah said permission was granted for the project in 2006 which aimed at supplying water to Madikeri town for four months during summer. In spite of increasing the project cost, it has not been completed, instead, the cost escalates every year.<br /><br />MLA Appachu Ranjan blamed the decisions of engineers for the delay and demanded a thorough investigation into the project.<br /><br />Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board official said water from Kundamestri project is being supplied to Madikeri via Kootuhole stream. The project will be completed by second week of May, he added.</p>
