Anganwadi worker, agent held for 'selling' baby

Rajeshwari, an anganwadi worker of Vidyapura in Kabaka and the agent Isaac of Kabaka were the arrested.
An unmarried woman from Koovethila had delivered a baby girl at Puttur government hospital on August 30. Rajeshwari who helped the woman during her delivery, allegedly sold the baby to one Nabisa of Paivalike in Kasargod district through an agent for a return of Rs 20,000.
The arrested have been produced before the court.

Six injured
Six persons were injured in a collision between a jeep and a goods tempo at Nidle on Kokkada-Dharmasthala road on Thursday.
The injured have been identified as Kokkada residents Sridhar, Thimmappa Gowda, Hemalatha, Kamala, Kripa and the jeep driver Babu Gowda. Except the driver, all are the members of a family.
The injured have been hospitalised. Uppinangady police have registered a case.

Student drowns
An engineering student, hailing from Davangere, drowned at a river in Nada village in Belthangady taluk on Thursday. The victim is Sandeep (19), a first year student of a private engineering college at Ujire.
Sandeep had been for a swimming at a river near Permanu Basadi in Nada village with his classmates. Belthangady police have registered a case.

Student dies
An engineering student who had fallen from the third floor of her hostel at Ujire, died at a private hospital in Mangalore on Thursday.
Pooja Shanubhag (21) from Kumta, was a third year engineering student. She had accidentally fallen from the third floor of her hostel on Tuesday night. Though she was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore, she succumbed to the injuries on Thursday.
