CBI searches office, house of SWR Civil engineer

Central Bureau of Investigation officials knocked on the doors of South Western Railway Senior Division Civil Engineer (West) Neeraj Bafna in the early hours of Friday at Railway Officials quarters in Golf Course, Hubballi.

Sources in Railway informed DH that CBI officials from Bengaluru searched the house and office of Neeraj from 3:00 am onwards. The search went on till 4:00 pm at his office. While, there was no official information about the reason for the raid, sources said the raids were part of the case filed against him by a contractor in Bengaluru.

Senior SWR officials also confirmed that there were several charges of corruption against Neeraj, and the SWR’s internal vigilance department were investigating them. He was transferred from the Bengaluru division to Hubballi last year.

Searches were also held at his houses in Anekal (Bengaluru rural) and Anantapur (Andra Pradesh).
