Flood relief: College joins hands with dist administration

 Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, and Government First Grade College Punjalkatte, joined hands with the district administration represented by officials from the Belthangady Taluk Office to raise funds for the flood affected people of north Karnataka.
The people of Madanthyar and Punjalkatte voluntarily came forward to express solidarity with the flood victims by offering their contributions. It was a rare gesture from the part of the students to immediately respond to the natural calamity.

The principals, staff, students, revenue officials, panchayat members and staff marched together in the streets of the town and collected the amount from the shop-keepers, auto drivers, and the general public.

The march created awareness among the people to respond to the urgent call of the government to come to the aid of the flood affected. The amount has been handed over to the tahsildar of Belthangady taluk.

Scribes’ appeal

The DK Union of Working Journalists (DKUWJ) has decided to contribute for the flood relief fund.
Journalists who intend to contribute their share can pay the same at the DKUWJ office within 4 pm on October 9, stated the Union General Secretary Guruvappa N T Balepuni in a release.

MIFSE plea

Mangalore Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering (MIFSE) will raise funds to help the flood victims of north Karnataka. MLA U T Khader will inaugurate its drive at 9.30 am on October 8, informed MIFSE Chairman Ando Paul in a release. All MIFSE staff will contribute their one day’s salary for the fund while students of the institute will also donate. The institute will contribute equal amount collected through the drive and hand over the same to the DC, he added.

Kalkura Foundation

The flood relief collection centre opened by Kalkura Foundation will be kept open at Foundation’s office near  Besant Complex on M G Road between 8 am to 8 pm till October 12. Those who intend to contribute may contact: 9845083736.
