Football tourney from today in Mangalore

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Governing Board Member of the Association Vijaya Suvarna said that Mayor Rajani Dugganna will inaugurate the tournament, while Corporation Bank General Manager N R Shet will preside over the function. The association which has been organising annual football tournament since last 14 years has become quite popular among the crowd, he said and informed that separate matches for school and college level students and for men and women will be held.

Honorary Chairman of the Association D M Aslam said that by receiving sponsorships from various organisations like Corporation bank, Syndicate bank, School Book Company and Karavali College, the tournaments total expenditure is expected to be Rs 1.5 lakh.

“Various level matches will be held for 23 days igniting the curiosity of football lovers in the three districts namely Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu.” Meanwhile, he also informed that 137 teams have already registered their names and they expect the total number of participating teams to exceed 150.

Honourary Secreatary of the Association Mohd Hussain Bolar and treasurer Anil P V were present.
