A letter written by a student to his college principal seeking a five-day leave on account of Valentine's Day has gone viral on social media.

The letter, allegedly written on February 9 by S Shivaraju, a II year B Com student, is addressed to the Principal of Mahadeshwara First Grade College in Kollegal, requesting five days of leave on account of 'Valentine's Day'. The letter has the seal of the principal and also his signature attested in green ink.

The letter says, "In an effort to avoid harassment by the girls, in the wake of lovers' day celebrated across the country, I request the principal to give me five days leave (14.02.2021)."

When contacted, college Principal Seeganayaka said, "I am not aware of such a leave letter. I have seen the letter on the social media. It has the college seal and my signature has been forged. The issue would be taken seriously and the letter would be verified."
