Medical College in Kodagu may be a reality soon

“Crores of rupees has already been released for the development of Kodagu district and the longstanding demand of this district to have medical college will be materialised with budgetary allocation for the same this year,” said Labour Minister B N Bacchegowda.

Addressing the Republic Day celebration in Madikeri, he said that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has lot of respect for this district and hence he is taking personal interest in the development of the district.

“Recently, the CM unveiled the statue of martyr Guddemane Appaiah.  Apart from this he also started various developmental works of over Rs 40 crore,” he said.

He said that under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment guarantee Scheme Rs 18 crore was released for the district, of which Rs 15 crore was utilised. Under Total Sanitation Campaign, 56 out of 98 Gram Panchayat have received the Nirmal Puraskar. There are 30 Primary Health Centres, six Community Health Centres, two Taluk hospitals, one district hospitals in the district.

With regard to farmers’ loan at one per cent, he said that 32,000 farmers have received loan of Rs 289.88 crore so far. Over 173 beneficiaries have received loan of Rs 3.96 crore under three per cent interest scheme.

Deputy Commissioner DR N V Prasad, Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri among others were present.

ICU not built

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of District Hospital has not been built yet but Bacche Gowda in his speech during Republic Day said that the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been completed. Generally, the heads of each department give information on their department to formulate the speech.

However, the false information about ICU took everyone by surprise because the State Government had released Rs 50 lakh for the same recently.

The officials must have given false information that ICU is functional, which was been read out by the Minister as it is.

Dance by kids

Various schools students staged dance programmes after the flag hoisting during Republic Day celebration. Madikeri Government Model Primary School stood first, St Joseph School stood second and Rajarajeshwari School stood third in the dance events. Murnadu Jnana Jyoti School had to settle down with consolation prize.

Group leadership

Later, speaking to reporters Bacche Gowda said that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, BJP State President K S Eshwarappa are all great leaders and in the next election all the three will lead the party as a group.
