The two minor girls studying at St Aloysius PU College, who had gone missing on Monday, were traced at Shornoor Railway Station on Thursday morning.

John D’Sa, father of one of the girls and a resident of Ashoknagar, had filed a complaint at the Mangaluru North police station, stating that his daughter and her classmate – who is a resident of Suratkal – had gone to college on February 1, but had not returned home. The footage on the college CCTV camera showed both of them leaving the college around 2.30 pm on February 1. The Bunder police and the sleuths of the CCB unit had conducted search operations in different parts of the City. They had also spoken to the classmates of the girls.

One of the students, however, had called her parents on Thursday morning and informed that they were at the Shornoor railway station. The parents, in turn, informed the police, who got in touch with the Railway Police. The girls were taken into custody by the Railway Police.

Reacting to the incident, City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar said that a team of police have left for Shornoor to get the students back. The reason for their having gone missing will be known once the girls reach Mangaluru, he added.

Assault alleged
After the two minor students went missing, the police had allegedly taken Ahmed Nishar to custody. Nishar has now accused the police of assaulting him and also abusing his mother and sister. The injured Nishar is admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

In a press release, members of the Campus Front of India has condemned the police action and said that Nishar was innocent and not involved in any cases. The Campus Front of India district unit has urged the State government to initiate action against the police who allegedly assaulted the youth.
