R-day celebrations either in Fort or football stadium this year

A decision will be taken after conducting a spot inspection

A meeting in this regard was convened by the Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda at the Kote Hale Vidhana Sabhangana here on Thursday.  

Usually the Republic Day programmes were being held at the District Stadium every year. However, the district administration has decided to change the venue since the athletic track development work is progressing inside the stadium. The meet resolved to organise the programme either at the Fort premises or inside the Football Stadium near Man’s Compound. A decision will be taken after conducting a spot inspection.

Tableaux, which create awareness on government schemes, will be arranged for the colourful procession to be held as part of the Republic Day programme. DC directed the Town Municipality authorities to offer floral tributes to the busts of Mahatma Gandhi, Field Marshal K M Kariappa and General Thimmaiah in the town. “All officials should participate in the programme compulsorily,” DC said.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mirza Akbarulla said that the Sampoorna Swachata Andolana will be commenced in the remaining 63 gram panchayats from January 26. Tableaux, awareness jatha and artists will tour the villages to create awareness, he said adding that the programme inaugurated on Republic Day.

District Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri, Additional DC Chandregowda, Kannada and Culture Department In-charge Assistant Director Vinod Chandra, Bharath Scouts and Guides District Commissioner K T Baby Mathew, Agriculture Department Joint Director K R Krishnaiah and other officials were present.
