Rains receded across Kodagu district on Monday. Madikeri, Napoklu, Sampaje, Bhagamandala, Virajpet, Hudikeri, Srimangala, Ponnampet and Suntikoppa experiencd drizzling.
The farmers have started agriculture activities with the rain giving a break. Though rain receded, sky remained overcast whole day in Madikeri.
A house belonging to Subramani and M C Accappa collapsed at Virajpet taluk. Two houses have been partially damaged in Bellur village. A cow shed belonging to Y M Dharmappa was partially damaged at Edoor in Somwarpet taluk. The district has received an average of 40.29 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. It was 13.46 mm during the corresponding period last year. Kodagu district has received an average of 2,238.28 mm rainfall since January (930.23 mm last year).
Rainfall recorded in hoblis in the last 24 hours are as follws: Madikeri kasaba—59.2 mm, Napoklu—26.8 mm, Sampaje—103.6 mm, Bhagamandala—69.7 mm, Virajpet kasaba—36.8 mm, Hudikeri—33.5 mm, Srimangala—46.2 mm, Ponnampet—23.6 mm, Ammathi—31.5 mm, Balele—15 mm, Somwarpet kasaba—21.4 mm, Shanivarasanthe—17 mm, Shanthalli—56.4 mm and Suntikppa—25 mm.
The water-level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,856.15 feet. With Harangi catchment area receiving 35.8 mm rainfall, the inflow of water into the reservoir was 14,184 cusecs and the outflow of water was 9,200 cusecs. About 700 cusecs water was released into the canals.
