Two phase census in Kodagu district from November

Two month long programme will identify BPL families

The caste-based census will be conducted in two phases. The caste census has been clubbed with the socio-economic survey to identify the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and is scheduled to be completed before the end of this year.

A preparatory meeting on the survey was held on Tuesday. The meet was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner K M Chandre Gowda.

The meeting deployed District Akshara Dasoha Officer Macchado and Basavanahalli Morarji Desai Residential School Principal Suresh as master trainers for the survey.

Training for the master trainers will be held on September 14 at Mysore. The master trainers will train the enumerators and the supervisors. As per the government direction, a district-level committee meeting should be convened once in 15 days.

Zilla Panchayat CEO N Krishnappa said that there are 1,45,273 households in the district. As per the government direction, as many as 1,095 enumerators’ blocks have been created.
Every four block will have one enumerator. Accordingly, there will be 276 enumerators and 180 supervisors.

Committee member Secretary Siddayya and district statistician Prabhuswamy also spoke. District Social Welfare Officer Rajesh Gowda, Regional Transport Officer Mohammed Habibulla, District Health Officer Dr Yathiraj, Women and Child Welfare department Deputy Director Vijayalakshmi Shenoy and others were present.
