The High Court Bench of Dharwad on Wednesday admitted the appeal filed by Karnataka governor and Karnatak University questioning the order of single judge in the Karnatak University scam case. However, the court directed the Lokayukta police to continue its investigation into the scam.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Wala, who is also the chancellor of all the universities in the State, had filed an appeal on January 21, questioning the order of single judge. Justice H Billappa on November 27, 2014,  had annulled the governor’s order of appointing a one-man commission to probe into charges against university’s then vice chancellor H B Walikar.

The judge had stated that there were procedural lapses in initiating probe against Dr Walikar and ten others. The court had quashed the FIR filed by the Lokayukta police against Dr Walikar and ten others.
