Postponing of PU college summer vacation welcomed

Pre-university college lecturers welcomed the government decision to postpone the summer vacation, which had been one among their main demands submitted to the government recently.

K K Upadhyaya, Dakshina Kannada District Pre-university College Principals’ Association president, told reporters at the Patrika Bhavan on Thursday that the lecturers had thanked MLC S L Bhojegowda and the officials at the Education Department for positively considering demand.

The lecturers and principals may not boycott the answer paper evaluation if the government fulfils all their demands. Upadhyaya recollected that the lecturers from Dakshina Kannada had decided not to boycott the evaluation, keeping in mind the interest of the students.

“The main demands of the lecturers include revision of the academic time table, abolition of the new pension scheme (NPS) and replacing it with the old pension scheme, filling up the vacant posts in PU Education Department, redressing the woes of unaided pre-university colleges and providing facilities to government pre-university colleges,” Upadhyaya explained.

Association secretary Yusuf, Dakshina Kannada District Government PU College Lecturers’ Association president J P M Cheriyan, Thumbe PU College principal K N Gangadhar Alva and Sri Ramakrishna PU College principal Dr Kishore Kumar Rai Sheni were present at the press meet.
