Last Updated 16 December 2018, 18:50 IST

A team led by Tahsildar Purandar Hegde and police personnel raided an unauthorised Aadhaar centre, in the house of a JD(S) leader on Wednesday.

Following a complaint from the public, the authorities conducted a raid and seized a laptop, camera, printer and a fingerprint machine.

Haroon Rashid, Francis Prashanth D’Souza and Prakash were present in the house.

In the last two days, 14 new Aadhaar cards were given and 80 corrections in Aadhaar cards were done at the centre. According to the Tahsildar, it is wrong to open an Aadhaar card centre in an individual’s house.

Reacting to it, Haroon Rasheed said, “Many people were approaching me seeking help in getting Aadhaar card and Ration card. To provide free services, I opened the Aadhaar centre on a temporary basis in my house.”

Further action will be taken after submitting a report to the court as per Aadhaar Act, said SP Ravikanthe Gowda.
