Udupi RTO officials have warned of confiscating the vehicles that display any slogan or advertisement promoting any political party for promoting business.

Using vehicles with slogans and advertisements that can influence voters has come to the notice of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Hephsiba Rani Korlapati. Display of such items without prior permission from a competent authority amounts to violation of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. It also a violation of the order of the High Court, the officers have clarified.

If anyone is found violating the rules, the vehicles will be seized without issue of any notice and legal action will be initiated, they added.

Holiday

Udupi Fisheries deputy director has reminded that the Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be held on April 18 and 23 in Karnataka. All people working in fishing boats venturing for deep sea fishing will be given holiday to exercise their franchise.

The Konkan Railway, with Gram Panchayat Hakkothaya Andolana and CWC, organised an awareness programme on voting at Kundapur Railway Station.

Slogans of ‘Navu Mattu Namma Mata Maratakilla’ were displayed by the volunteers. Motivated with the move, some passengers collected stickers and badges on voting and promised to take part in the electoral process.
